2008 Firecracker 5000

The Peoria Jaycees Firecracker 5000 is a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) foot race / fitness walk through downtown Peoria and the scenic Peoria Riverfront.  The race is an Illinois Valley Striders Grand Prix Series race and has been held since 1982. 
     
The 5 km/3.1 mile race starts at 7:15  am on July 4th. the course runs through downtown Peoria and along the Riverfront on mostly flat streets with split times each mile and two water stations on the course. A course map will be included with each race packet.

• Entry fees:

·         Early Bird entry fee before May 31st - $20.00

·         Regular entry fee June 1^st to June 23^rd - $25.00

·         Entry fee June 28^th & July 4^th in person at Kelleher’s - $30.00

Firecracker 5000 Shirts

Pre-registered entrants and those who register during packet pick up on June 28^th are guaranteed an official race T-shirt.  Some T-shirt sizes may not be available on race day.

T-shirts for this year’s race will be on sale to non-participants after the race if quantities permit.  T-shirts (in limited sizes) from prior races will be available for purchase during packet pickup and on race day.

Awards

Awards will be given to the first overall finishers, first Masters finishers, and first and second place finishers in all age groups.  All awards will be given to both male and female winners in each category.  Overall winners are not eligible for age division awards. A list of age groups is below.

Age Divisions

Race organizers will be at Kade’s Coffee on July 9^th from 5-7pm for pickup of awards, packets, or T-shirts after the race.  If you are unable to pick up your items during packet pickup, on race day, or at Kade’s Coffee on July 9^th, please contact race organizers at peoriafirecracker@yahoo.com to arrange an alternative time.  Awards, packets, and T-shirts will not be mailed out to recipients.  Thank you.
