Who are the Peoria Jaycees?
The Peoria Jaycees is a
not-for-profit, volunteer organization comprised of men and women
between the ages of 21 and 39 in the Peoria, Illinois (USA) area.
We are part of a larger organization, the Illinois Jaycees, which
is a part of the US Jaycees. The term Jaycee is short for Junior
Chamber of Commerce.
What's the purpose of the Peoria
Jaycees?
We promote leadership training and
the development of personal skills for our members through
community involvement. Jaycee members develop new skills and
enhance existing ones by becoming involved with our many projects.
By becoming involved in organizing projects for the community,
members have the opportunity to realize hands-on experience that
will ultimately sharpen one's leadership and management skills.
What kind of projects do the
Peoria Jaycees do?
While the Peoria Jaycees are known
for Community Development projects like the Haunted House,
International Beer Fest and Firecracker 5000 that raise money for
charitable organizations. The Peoria Jaycees also run Individual
Development projects like Time Management, Dress For Success and
Write-up/Speak-up where members learn new skills to enhance their
life and their career. Our projects are only limited by our
member's imagination. Your project can benefit your chapter, your
community or both. You decide!
How much time is involved?
The Jaycees is completely
voluntary, so you can commit as much time as you want, or are
able. Therefore, the Jaycees revolves around your schedule. And
remember, most of all, the Jaycees keep everything fun!

accounting, legal, real estate, information technology and many
other professions. You can build quite a professional network in
the Peoria Jaycees. Another positive aspect of becoming a Jaycee
is the leadership and management skills that you will develop from
your involvement. This experience can become extremely useful in
your personal and professional life.
